: In addition to the work, duties and powers mentioned in sub-section (6) of Article 287 of the Constitution, the other work, duties and powers of the Commission shall be as follows:-
(a) To identify the mother tongue spoken in Nepal,
(b) To recommend to the Government of Nepal about the policy or institutional measures to be adopted by the Government of Nepal, Provincial Government or Local Government for the protection, promotion and development of the native language spoken in Nepal,
(c) To formulate and implement necessary programs for the preservation, promotion and development of the native language and script spoken in Nepal, and recommending to the relevant agencies,
(d) To study, research and publish the native language spoken in Nepal and its history (e) To publish books in such language to preserve, promote and develop the mother tongue and script of various communities and to recommend to the relevant bodies to publish such books,
(f) To recommend the relevant agencies to conduct research and adopt suitable measures to make the use of the mother tongue spoken in Nepal technology-friendly,
(g) To prepare a list of language experts of national languages.
